Insights from speakers, questions from students, a sense of bonhomie and great sessions marked the two-day long orientation programme for the MBA-2012 batch at the Usha Martin Academy (UMA), Salt Lake, Kolkata campus. The orientation was held on the 12th and 13th of June.
Following the inauguration, Mr. Ghosh gave his views on the recent trends in education and these inputs were well received by the students. Mr. Raju Babu Sinha underlined the need for a 'right attitude' and apprised students on industry expectations from a future manager. Emphasising that the business environment has taken on the new paradigm of 'survival of the most adaptable', Mr. Sinha said that this would be the new mantra at UMA. ''Mr. Sinha's session was an eye-opener for all of us", said Baidyanath, a student.
The next session was presided over by Mr. Barinder Singh, AVP, Operations, Godrej & Boyce. Mr. Singh gave a detailed assessment of the job market and patiently responded to student queries.
The second day started with an academic and examination orientation session by Mr. Kumar Satyaki Roy and Mr. Biswarup Samanta. The new tri-mester pattern introduced in UMA was explained to the students. Mr. Bikramjit Banerjee, Head, Placements, gave an overview of UMA placements and said that over 50 corporates have visited the UMA campus for recruitments. These included Tata, Future Group, IBM, Aditya Birla Group, HDFC Bank, etc.
The two day long orientation was a session of much learning and intellectual stimulation. The industry and the students met, interacted, exchanged ideas and learnt mutually in the process. The Batch 2012- 2014 is now all set to take the journey towards growth and excellence.
